Rotherham: MP and council leader tour cancer services
Rother Valley MP Kevin Barron visited Rotherham Hospital to witness first hand the cancer patient pathway and speak with specialists. Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust welcomed him along with John Healey MP and Rotherham Council leader Roger Stone. They toured the outpatient unit for cancer services and the health information area. Mr Barron was impressed with the way cancer services were being delivered.
Muddy good fun at adventure playground
Children at the Gainsborough Adventure Playground (GAPA) didn’t let the weather put them off as they attempted a tough obstacle course in the mud recently.

Worksop: Fire chief in charity cycle ride
Notts’ Chief Fire Officer stopped off at Worksop Fire Station on Saturday as part of his mammoth fundraising weekend. Frank Swann (pictured on the right) cycled around all 24 fire stations in the county to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity. During his 185-mile trip he visited the station in Worksop where firefighters were taking part in a charity car wash. Mr Swann also visited Misterton Fire Station, where there was an open day and Retford Fire Station, where there was a cycle safety day. Worksop man played a part in Dambusters
A Worksop man who was one of the last remaining members of the Dambusters squadron died before the 70th anniversary of the famous bouncing bomb raid.
Hockney inspires art group
On Wednesday 15th May the IBIS art group held their annual exhibition at Anston Parish Hall. Jennie Hinton and the members of her art group create original botanical illustrations which record the plants and trees of Anston Stones Wood, an area of national historical importance. The paintings were then donated to the local parish council archives.
